An Aston Martin has finished what's accepted to be the first hydrogen-fueled lap around the popular Nürburgring as the automaker plans to enter its H2-controlled half breed in one month from now's 24-hour race at the German circuit.
The Aston Martin Hybrid Hydrogen Rapide S made a four-hour circled the track, with Aston Martin CEO Dr. Ulrich Bez in the driver's seat, no less. The car is fueled by a 6.0-liter V12 motor that can run on fuel, hydrogen or a blend of both. The test drive was in readiness of Aston Martin entering the car in Nürburgring's 24-hour enduro on May 19.
Aston Martin is making a major ordeal about its hydrogen racer being "the initial zero CO2 discharges sports car to finish a race pace lap at the Nürburgring 24-hour race." That may be genuine, however zero-emanation sports cars have handled the Nürburgring track commonly some time recently, simply not under hydrogen power.
